About Us
Chicklet Books has been a 'dream come true' for owner, Deb Hunter… AKA Top Banana. After a year of plotting and planning the doors to her first FUN & FUNKY Book Boutique opened in December of 2004 in Hillsborough, NJ. This store moved to the next town over, Millstone in May of 2008.
August 2007 brought her dreams to a new all time high when The Princeton Shopping Center on Harrison Street in Princeton, NJ offered her the 'chance of a lifetime'... to take over a newly vacated 10,000 square foot bookstore... fixtures and all!!
The stores are unlike any other bookstore in the area. Hot Pink, Purple, Apple Green, Turquoise are just a few of the bright colors to put a smile on your face as you enter. The many windows allow plenty of natural light for reading and tons of sunshine for the trees and plants to thrive. Comfy sofas and plenty of seating invite you to stay a while and relax... or just hang out and watch the fish in the tank swim around and around and around.
Emma is our on-site official greeter, with her very own fan club. She is a 6 year old beagle/terrier mix with the sweetest disposition. Emma has a rescue story all her own which will hopefully be a book in print within the year.
Deb's daughter, Stephanie is the heiress@chickletbooks.com... and the owner of Emma. Her ability to know every book in the store without the use of a computer and her business knowledge is awe inspiring.
The Chicklet Cafe in the Princeton store is run by Avery. She is in charge of making all the yummy coffee and tea concoctions... both hot and cold. The new focus of the cafe is CHOCOLATE!!! Keep an eye on our newsletters to see what she has come up with. She plans on having CHOCOLATE TASTINGS. Woo! Hoo!
The Princeton store also has a POST OFFICE. Yes, you read that correctly. We are considered a Contract Postal Unit... there are a few thousand of us throughout the country. We can do everything a regular Post Office does (for the same price), except for Passports, Registered Mail and Money Orders. Say hello to Herb or Karen when you stop in to mail your next package.
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff can help you find what you are looking for or make recommendations to meet your needs. Books can also be special ordered and will normally arrive in two to three days.
What makes these stores a FUN AND FUNKY BOOK BOUTIQUE? It's the creative mix of gift items thrown in among the books that makes these stores a fun place to shop. All items are hand picked by Deb and Stephanie, so you know they are something 'different'
We deliver orders to local Assisted Living facilities, Adult Communities and Shut Ins. Many schools have earned extra money by participating in one of our numerous fund-raiser opportunities. What can we do to help you?
